Back in England and planning a return trip!

I have been back in England for quite a while now. Unfortunately was having too good a time in New York to write anything on here!

New York was fantastic - a great place. Not somewhere I could live or stay for a long period of time personally, although Richard felt very differently, lol. It is so fast and busy - when they say it never sleeps, they really do mean that. There was never a time that we walked out of the hotel door, whether it be 6am, 12pm, 4pm or 4am it was always hussling and bussling away. Crazy, but amazing at the same time.

I am writing this message to let you know that this blog will have a purpose again, from the 15th of December until the 12th of January, as I am returning to Costa Rica. I will predominately be staying in Ostional with the friends I made there, although hopefully I will also be travelling around Costa Rica and also Panama as well. So.... I shall let you know nearer the time my plans and keep you updated throughout Costa Rica return trip!!

Last few days in costa Rica

Hi everyone,

Not long now until I am in New York.

The last few days have been good. We left Ostional on Wednesday. I was very sad to leave because I made some very good friends there, but I am planning on returning either this Christmas or next summer (their winter). We then travelled for around 10 hours to get to del Lagarto Lodge.

It was an amazing place, much like a retreat. We had no internet, no TV, no telephone signal or a payphone. It was definately hard, but I am glad we all did it. There was plenty of time to think and I definately did. I have learnt a lot about myself and what I want in the future.

Now we are all in San Jose the capital, which although has some nice areas isn't the nicest of cities. To be honest non of the cities here in Costa Rica are overly pleasant! However, the country side is absolutely beautiful.

Hope everyone is OK, I will write another message when I am in New York!

Ostional

nd have Hey,

All is good here. Its very very remote, with about two shops that don't really sell much, but its an experience. The houses are very poor and the people don't have much, but you can learn so much from that, so much. I have realised how lucky I am to have the life style that I have.

So far I am sharing my room with a Tarantula, Iguana, various lizards, ants, and beetles of every sort, so thats good (ha). The house is very make shift and not all together the cleanest, but the lady is lovely. Again though, doesn't speak any English. I have tried to encorporate myself into the culture as much as possible and have been to the church with a family I have made friends with. Baked and eaten a cake/ sticky flapjack with them and things like that so that is all good. Tomorrow if all goes well I am also going to a big local dance, that a girl on our trip has arranged. Learnt quite a few Salsa moves, and wants even better is all the guys here dance it!!

There is an American group here at the moment, arrived yesterday, and they all seem really nice. They are all very young, so I take my hat off to them for sticking this out because its not easy. The leader though is really nice. I have actually just sat talking to him for about 2 hours. Very very gay, but a great guy, really interesting.

Anyway better head off I need to get some sleep before my night shift. I am so tired, we don't get to sleep a huge amount and the shifts are very long and hard work. On the up side there is lots of walking involved so I must be getting fitter/healthier.

Ok,

Hope everyone is OK, speak to you soon

Leaving Nicoya for Ostional

Hey,

I can´t believe I have been here for 2 weeks already. I am leaving tonight to go to Nosara for the weekend and then on to Ostional were we will be carrying out the volunteer work with the Turtles. It is going to be an amazing experience as we are living in very primitive homes, without access to any other towns, villages and so on, so we will see!!

I have made some great friends and am very happy. Abit homesick but suppose thats how it goes...!

I graduated today from the school with certificate, and shock horror managed to complete the first bigginers course and then the one after that in the two weeks I was there. Mind I will need it in the next place because no one but the group speaks any English. But, it will be good for me because I will have to practise.

Ok have to go pack, but will speak soon.

P.s sorry for the lack of photos. My camera lead isn´t working and the memory card readers out here don´t seem to read our camers. Hopefully I will find somewhere that will but I am not sure. If not Rich is bringing my lead to America so I will upload them there.

First week in Costa Rica

Hey everyone!

It is going really well here, and I am enjoying myself thoroughly. Spanish is going well. I can communicate in basic spanish and generally get the jist of what my homestay families are saying when they talk to each other, so all is good.

The weather is great. Very Very hot, so the cold showers are fantastic. I am also managing to get a nice tan, lol. Prioties.

Hope everyone is OK, certainly missing everyone and some home comforts.

Lots of Love

Arrived in Costa Rica

I have arrived in Costa Rica safe and sound, with luggage intact. I am currently at a hotel for the first night and then I travel with all the others to Nicoya tomorrow. I am really excited. The flights were exhausting, but an experience to say the least.

I get on with everyone in the group which is fantastic and have already been using Spanish, not brilliant Spanish, but Spanish none the less.

I will try to upload some pictures in a few days.

Lots of Love

My trip to Costa Rica

I have created this blog so I can keep all my friends and family up to date with my trip to Costa Rica and let you all know that I am still alive and kicking as phones won't be an option!

I am not sure how much access I will have to a computer let a lone the internet but I will try my hardest to update it when ever possible as well as facebook. If I can't get to a computer for some reason then I will try to add it all in New York, during the few days that I am there.
